Details
Bentonite is a clay-like material derived of montmorlinite. Betonite is typically used as either a suspension agent in glazes and plasticizer in clay bodies. A noticable difference in plasticity can be seen with additions as low as 1% and is typically used up to 5% in recipes. Bentonite HPM-20 differs from standard bentonite in that it is a highly refined material which eliminates iron spotting which can occur. Works well for porcelains and clear or white glazes where these qualities are desired.
