Details

Known as "Light Rutile" or "Ceramic Grade Rutile" ground to a fine particle size for better distribution in glaze recipes. Thus, does not have the problems granular (dark) rutile has with pin-holing and blistering. Chemically, rutile is titanium, containing iron and other impurities. Used in glaze recipes as a 'modifier' to achieve a mottled effect and typically used in combination with other colorants. Also known as "Titanox" or "Weld Rod Titanium" for its uses in welding.
